January Guidance

Welcome to the New Year! As we kick off 2023, we'll be focusing on Communication in our January Guidance lessons. Communication helps us develop and maintain relationships with those around us. It is critical to our learning at school and how we function in the community! Communicating effectively allows children to form strong bonds with adults and peers, helping them feel supported and confident.

Each grade level will learn how communication is our ability to send and receive messages. Through hands-on activities, team challenge activities, discussion, and read aloud stories, each grade level will refresh and build on their prior learning. Through the lessons the importance of being clear and concise, differences between verbal and nonverbal, and online safety will also be covered. 1st and 2nd grade sections will zoom in on Active Listening and being a whole body listener, and 3rd and 4th grade sections will dig into empathetic listening.
